Why should he be shot? It's not like he's revving the ever-loving crap out of it. He's probably got it no higher than 4,000 rpm at any given time. All he's doing is just trying to get a little unburnt fuel at liftoff to contact the header so he can show off the flames. Revving and lifting in quick succession is the easiest way to do that.
